“me and my boyfriend are engaged…”. I almost couldn’t believe my eyes when I read that on my msn convos window. A friend who’s been my friend since our early teenage year is now engaged and she’s planning a valentine wedding next year.
I’m all excited and sooooo happy for her. As the matter of fact, i’ll go to her wedding in Finland next year. But honestly, that happy news from her was just like a slap in my face. I mean… gosh, im older now. im not any longer a girl, im a woman! I’ve received some wedding invitations and those are my childhood friends who are getting married!!
It also like a reminder to me… a reminder that I have to put more attention on my personal love affair
It’s not like it is the most important thing in the world… but don’t you think it’d be so nice if I can attend my friend’s valentine wedding next year with my man?
My friend told me… love is a gambling and we’ll never know if we never try. Guess it’s true…. time to bet now, friends!
xx
1. I live under the same roof as my parents and my siblings. But guess what? Papa and Mummy greeted me for a happy bday to me via phone call and my siblings text me on my fb wall/mobile fone to wish me a wonderful bday!
2. For the first time in my bday history, it wasn’t mummy who bought my bday cake
3. I received less bday presents this year, but somehow I felt more love given to me :-)
4. I feel so old when I realize im 22 already!
5. You know what? I spent my bday with Mr. Pitt and Mr. Cruise!! I went to the cinema (alone!!!) seeing The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and Valkyrie. That’s how I celebrate bday!!!
6. The first person who greets me for a happy bday was not my family!
7. I’m happy with the fact that HE remembers my bday
8. So many texts on my fb wall and my mobile fone… all the friends I used to forget send me their prays and hopes on my bday. I love them soooooooo much!
9. My favourite bday present this year… my father’s pray for me. Wonderfully touched my heart and im wishing God will hear his pray and make it come true
xx
Dear God
Here we go again… it feels like i just say my pray for my 17th years of life and now im 22!! Why you never send anyone to warn me that time goes really really really fast?!
Whatsoever, thanks so much for the precious 22 years you’ve been giving me. I’m sorry if you find me a bit less thankful these past years. But you know really well that I’ve got plenty of stuffs called problems these past moments! I also thank you for all those problems as I had my learning from those troubles. They make me stronger, and smarter (anyway, can you give more troubles to Carlo Alberto Garcia? He needs them in order to get smarter!)
God… please do convince my dearest mother that it’s okay to have an unmarried 22 years old daughter. Tell her too that I’ve changed my mind about being solitaire with no hubby and children. Tell Papa and Mummy that I’ll be getting married someday and give them lots of cute grandchildren! As the matter of fact, im planning to have 3 kids. So, please… give me 3 kids when the right times come, help me to make my parents happy!
God… help me to keep being ’something’ in my siblings’ eyes. Help me leading them through the good and bad moments in our family. Help me so I can give them what our parents can’t give them (READ: time to play Wii and Play-Doh with them, helping them with their homeworks, driving them to their schools, hang out with them at McDonalds or Burger King) and also help me to get them something that our parents can afford (READ: a Strada car for Jodi, a Gucci handbag for Avi, and lots of Play-Doh sets for Egi)
I might be 22, but please God… let me be still a good friend of my wonderful friends. Even if they don’t consider me as a good friend, please give me a feeling as if I’ve become a good friend for my friends!!
About school and working stuffs… You really know that I want to take a major in Marketing Communication for my Master degree. Please please please… I want it to be in Sweden or UK. I’ve been trying so hard for that. And if I’ve been given a privilege to choose… can I be Ben Barnes’ publicist? I’ll find a way not to pass out everytime he talks to me, I promise!!
Last but not least… about a man. I’ve got a strange feeling about this man. Both my heart and head says different things bout this man. My heart says just go for it, meanwhile my head says no way. Which one to believe? But you know what God? If he’s really the one for me… I’ll accept him the way he is. Just if you make him as a person who will accept me the way I am… with all my greatness and stupidness
If he’s really the one, make it last God. Make it last so I’ll have a chance to love him, take care of him, be someone he can rely on when he’s weary, become the one he misses when he’s far, be the mother of his precious children!
That’s all for now, God. Keep my head above and let my feet stay on the ground always…

Been working for the bosses that I also call Mummy and Papa for the last 7 years. I can share a bit of knowledge, just incase you’re another person on earth who’s trapped in a thing called family business!!!
DISCLAIMER: It’s been practised to one pair of sample only. I’m not sure if reaction can be the same to other samples!!
1. Try to separate office thingies from personal matters. What happens at the office stays at the office! A hard concept to be understood by ‘the boss’ (mother, father, uncle, or any other that still blood-related to us) coz they sometimes drag us into the same problems/stupid convos while we’re outside the office.
My suggestion: if you’re still living under the same roof as ‘your boss’… well, get out of the house for a while. Don’t meet them outside the working hours. I sleep at the office so many times!!
2. When your parents took one day off from the office for whatever reason… it’s time for you to shine!! Rules the entire buiding!! You’re the king of the world… never take that chance for granted. That’s maybe the only day when you’re able to stand out of your parents’ shadow!
My suggestion: Do whatever you like in manner! Tell your parents’ personal assistant that you won’t be able havin any calls from your parents! Invite some friends to the office and make sure you’re ordering something important to an important person at the office when your friends arrive!
3. Always be honest to the boss. Never ever you lie about anything related to your job, especially if it’s financially related. You’ve got a £ 2000 deal, then tell your parents it’s £ 2000 and not £ 1500 as you wish you can have the £ 500!! Trust me, the bonus they’re gonna give us is much bigger than that £ 500 we’re trying to hide in our pocket!! You can only lie about your reasons leavin the office when you shouldn’t leave it!! and it’s not lying by the way, you’re just give some excuses.
My suggestion: Go to their office space as their daughter/son, not their employee. Tell them how difficult the pitch/project you’re handling now. At the end say this… “it’s okay, though. I’m happy doing it, coz im doin it for someone I love. I love you, Pa/Mum”. Don’t be too much in shock if the next day you’ll see £ 1000 added to your monthly allowance!!!!
3. Black shipped your school!!! Only applied for those who are still in college/uni/ or hi school. Parents will always say education over anything. You need some rest? Tell your parents you need to do some school assignments outside the office!!
My suggestion: Tell your parents that you’re goin to the school for this and that matter! Or even you can tell them you need to go somewhere else for doin school projects. The result? 2 -3 days off from the office without having your salary deducted!!!
4. Make your siblings as an excuse if you wanna have 2 -3 hours away from the boring routine at the office!
My suggestion: Just tell your ‘boss’ aka your parents that your sister/brother needs something and you’re gonna drive them to the book store to get the stuffs. Without hesitation your boss will say okay and off you go… pick up your siblings from their schools, take them to the nearest coffee shop. Feed them first though (BK or McDonald’s Happy Meal) and you can have your 2 hours sipping your latte in peace! Buy your siblings a new book or a new set of stationery so your parents will not be so suspicious.
5. Stay invisible when the boss seems to be stressed out! You show up when the tense is getting lower
it’s not that we’re being careless or jerky coz stepping out of the scene when trouble’s occur. But trust me my friend… the best thing you can do is stay away from it! Especially if the problems’ not comin from ya! The boss knows how to handle it well.
My suggestion: Knock on your boss’ door with a cup of coffee (or whatever he/she might like) at the end of the day. Say nothing. Put whatever you bring on his/her desk. Come closer to him/her and give him/her a kiss. and the magic word is… ‘I love you, Pa/Mum. everything’s gonna be fine”. Voila… within seconds he/she’s gonna ask you to sit down and talk about the matter. You’re a hero!!!
6. Don’t ever tell them you’ve got another job offer from another company!! It’ll hurt them, although they’d say it’s okay. Deep inside, their heart is badly broken. Face it, our parents do their best to keep the company runs for our sake! They want us to be the next person who’s gonna sit in the chair they’re sitting now!
My suggestion: working for other people who isn’t part of your family is good actually. It’ll make you respect what you’ve got already. Just do it when you’re ready for it (no more stupid excuses and surprise monthly allowance!!). If you feel you can handle it, just go for it. But stick to the rules! Don’t tell your parents bout it. Tell them you’re gonna have a quick visit to an old friend somewhere so you’re free to go to do your job interview. I still couldn’t find a way to tell them if we’re hired at the new company though…
Some more ideas to come! Or you’ve got another ideas to share??
xx

A junior flight attendant on her first flying duty. The aircraft is headed to La Guardia airport, and the flight attendant was in total panic when a pax flew with her seemed to be in a wrong flight.
Flight attendant (to the pax): I’m sorry, Ma’am. I just confirmed it to our Captain and the fleet is flying to La Guardia, not to New York.
That poor junior flight attendant had no idea that La Guardia is the name of the airport in New York City!!

ps. thankies Ai for the story
