“me and my boyfriend are engaged…”. I almost couldn’t believe my eyes when I read that on my msn convos window. A friend who’s been my friend since our early teenage year is now engaged and she’s planning a valentine wedding next year.

I’m all excited and sooooo happy for her. As the matter of fact, i’ll go to her wedding in Finland next year. But honestly, that happy news from her was just like a slap in my face. I mean… gosh, im older now. im not any longer a girl, im a woman! I’ve received some wedding invitations and those are my childhood friends who are getting married!!

It also like a reminder to me… a reminder that I have to put more attention on my personal love affair :-D It’s not like it is the most important thing in the world… but don’t you think it’d be so nice if I can attend my friend’s valentine wedding next year with my man? :-)

My friend told me… love is a gambling and we’ll never know if we never try. Guess it’s true…. time to bet now, friends!

xx

Been working for the bosses that I also call Mummy and Papa for the last 7 years. I can share a bit of knowledge, just incase you’re another person on earth who’s trapped in a thing called family business!!!

DISCLAIMER: It’s been practised to one pair of sample only. I’m not sure if reaction can be the same to other samples!!

1. Try to separate office thingies from personal matters. What happens at the office stays at the office! A hard concept to be understood by ‘the boss’ (mother, father, uncle, or any other that still blood-related to us) coz they sometimes drag us into the same problems/stupid convos while we’re outside the office.

My suggestion: if you’re still living under the same roof as ‘your boss’… well, get out of the house for a while. Don’t meet them outside the working hours. I sleep at the office so many times!!

2. When your parents took one day off from the office for whatever reason… it’s time for you to shine!! Rules the entire buiding!! You’re the king of the world… never take that chance for granted. That’s maybe the only day when you’re able to stand out of your parents’ shadow!

My suggestion: Do whatever you like in manner! Tell your parents’ personal assistant that you won’t be able havin any calls from your parents! Invite some friends to the office and make sure you’re ordering something important to an important person at the office when your friends arrive!

3. Always be honest to the boss. Never ever you lie about anything related to your job, especially if it’s financially related. You’ve got a £ 2000 deal, then tell your parents it’s £ 2000 and not £ 1500 as you wish you can have the £ 500!! Trust me, the bonus they’re gonna give us is much bigger than that £ 500 we’re trying to hide in our pocket!! You can only lie about your reasons leavin the office when you shouldn’t leave it!! and it’s not lying by the way, you’re just give some excuses.

My suggestion: Go to their office space as their daughter/son, not their employee. Tell them how difficult the pitch/project you’re handling now. At the end say this… “it’s okay, though. I’m happy doing it, coz im doin it for someone I love. I love you, Pa/Mum”. Don’t be too much in shock if the next day you’ll see £ 1000 added to your monthly allowance!!!!

3. Black shipped your school!!! Only applied for those who are still in college/uni/ or hi school. Parents will always say education over anything. You need some rest? Tell your parents you need to do some school assignments outside the office!!

My suggestion: Tell your parents that you’re goin to the school for this and that matter! Or even you can tell them you need to go somewhere else for doin school projects. The result? 2 -3 days off from the office without having your salary deducted!!!

4. Make your siblings as an excuse if you wanna have 2 -3 hours away from the boring routine at the office!

My suggestion: Just tell your ‘boss’ aka your parents that your sister/brother needs something and you’re gonna drive them to the book store to get the stuffs. Without hesitation your boss will say okay and off you go… pick up your siblings from their schools, take them to the nearest coffee shop. Feed them first though (BK or McDonald’s Happy Meal) and you can have your 2 hours  sipping your latte in peace! Buy your siblings a new book or a new set of stationery so your parents will not be so suspicious.

5. Stay invisible when the boss seems to be stressed out! You show up when the tense is getting lower :-) it’s not that we’re being careless or jerky coz stepping out of the scene when trouble’s occur. But trust me my friend… the best thing you can do is stay away from it! Especially if the problems’ not comin from ya! The boss knows how to handle it well.

My suggestion: Knock on your boss’ door with a cup of coffee (or whatever he/she might like) at the end of the day. Say nothing. Put whatever you bring on his/her desk. Come closer to him/her and give him/her a kiss. and the magic word is… ‘I love you, Pa/Mum. everything’s gonna be fine”. Voila… within seconds he/she’s gonna ask you to sit down and talk about the matter. You’re a hero!!!

6. Don’t ever tell them you’ve got another job offer from another company!! It’ll hurt them, although they’d say it’s okay. Deep inside, their heart is badly broken. Face it, our parents do their best to keep the company runs for our sake! They want us to be the next person who’s gonna sit in the chair they’re sitting now!

My suggestion: working for other people who isn’t part of your family is good actually. It’ll make you respect what you’ve got already. Just do it when you’re ready for it (no more stupid excuses and surprise monthly allowance!!). If you feel you can handle it, just go for it. But stick to the rules! Don’t tell your parents bout it. Tell them you’re gonna have a quick visit to an old friend somewhere so you’re free to go to do your job interview. I still couldn’t find a way to tell them if we’re hired at the new company though…

Some more ideas to come! Or you’ve got another ideas to share??

A junior flight attendant on her first flying duty. The aircraft is headed to La Guardia airport, and the flight attendant was in total panic when a pax flew with her seemed to be in a wrong flight.

Flight attendant (to the pax): I’m sorry, Ma’am. I just confirmed it to our Captain and the fleet is flying to La Guardia, not to New York.

That poor junior flight attendant had no idea that La Guardia is the name of the airport in New York City!!

ps. thankies Ai for the story :-D

It started when I gave some necklaces I bought in Bali to my brother on Sunday eve. He said he’s gonna give it to his 2 girlfriends! The term of girlfriend here isn’t representing female friends that my brother’s got. But it’s real girlfriend in romantic context! And this brother of mine is not even 7 years old yet!!!

Just yesterday, we had this convos…

Egi: Kak, my girlfriends want some more necklaces

Me: Yeah, I’ll get some necklaces for your girlfriends when I’m going to Bali later. I gave you 2 necklaces, it should’ve been enough for your two girlfriends!

Egi: Yeah, those were for X and Y… A and B haven’t got it yet.

Me: What? You said your girlfriends were X and Y!

Egi: A and B are my girlfriends too.

Me: How many girlfriends you’ve got?

Egi: 4 today… I don’t know how many tomorrow.

Me: ?????

Egi: Kak, you’ve got some good rings here. Can I have them for my girlfriends? (Egi was scrutinising my jewelry box and have 2 Dior rings on his fingers!)

I really have no idea what would my brother like when he’s 17!!!

xx

I don’t know why I feel a bit different when I saw his picture together with her. A friend tells me that I’ve been jealous. All the mixed feelings… sad, scared, terrified, and some more unexplained are mixed into one called jealous.

and my friends… this jealousy is killin moi!!

xx

Dunno what im feeling right now. sadness kah? atau is it just a disappointment caused by a very high expectation of someone??

Ya sudahlah… gotta deal with it. Mau diapakan lagi?! It’s just another phase in my life. Trust moi… besok pasti ada cerita yang baru lagi. Either its gonna be bad or good… im just gonna get it through!!!

Thankies Ai… no more tears ;-)

it’s a song sang by Westlife. a very sweet song which reminds me some years ago when I was a kid, sitting next to the phone so ill be the first one who’s gonna answer my Papa’s call.

I shed a tear when I remember that the only question I asked Papa at that time was ‘when you’ll be home, Pa? I miss you’. And I always remember how Papa answered that question. He always told me he’ll be home soon and no matter how far he was, he was gonna be next to me coz he had me in his heart. I used to sleep wearing his clothes or bathrobe after he called home.

I’ve got a bad feeling that im gonna marry a man who’s not gonna be home all the times because of his job :-D im gonna have to deal with the cheesy ‘i love you’, ‘i miss you so much’, ‘you don’t know how i wish you were here’, and ‘when you’ll be home?’ over the phone again :-D In this case, my parents know what’s best for their children. im very well trained for this kind of situation! :-D

The song lyric

Okay my friends… as you notice, im gonna be 22 soon!!! Per usual, I list up some stuffs i hope im gonna  get on my birthday. hehehe. (Carlo, read this down carefully!!!)

  1. Band of Brothers book (Stephen E Ambrose) – said that the book is worth to read, and it’s as good as the mini series. I cannot find this book in Jakarta, and in any other book stores I visited on my trip.
  2. iPod touch – Papa didn’t wanna buy me another iPod coz I’ve broken the first 2 iPods he bought me. For some personal reasons, I won’t buy it with my own money too (my money is strictly allocated for doctors, hand bags, shoes, and stuffs like that)
  3. Harry Potter book number 4 – I lost it… I need a new one. It won’t cost me more than £ 15, but I think it’s gonna be more fun if I can get it as a birthday gift :-)
  4. Westlife : Our Story  (autobiography of Westlife) – and I know someone can easily get me this book with the autographs of Shane, Mark, Nicky, and Kian on it ;-)
  5. Graf ice skating shoes (with good blades) – I own a pair already, but I want to have another one. It will make me look like a pro :-D My father won’t let me spend another £ 400 for another pair that im only gonna use 4 times a year (max!!!)
  6.  A plane ticket with a route of CGK-ZRH-CGK or CGK-LHR-CGK.  Flight by EY (crystal) or BA (club) (hahahaha. wondering if there’s any of you will give me this kind of bday gift :-D )
  7.  A box of truffle from Sprüngli or Teushcer – im gonna warn you in advance, it’s a big struggle to get them shipping chocolates to CGK :-D
  8. A dozen of red roses – dunno why, but I always want to have red roses on my birthday. 21 years old, there’s only one man gave me a dozen of red roses. That man was my foster brother!!
  9. Gift-wrapped Ben Barnes  - hehehe… another stupid wish. considering i might be fainting at the very first second i see him, getting me the very real Ben Barnes wouldn’t be a great idea :-D

It’s been a month since I returned from Zürich. Number 1, I miss Zürich so much. Number 2, I gained 3 kilos since I landed in CGK! It is so funny coz I lost 9 kilos while I was in Switzerland (now you know why I miss Zürich so much, yeah?)

I remember exactly what you guys said when I told you that I lost 9 kilos in Switzerland. You guys said:

- I’ve been too depressed in Switzerland (yeah, I was depressed coz I had no enough money to buy all the cute stuffs I saw in Switzerland!)

- The physiotherapy was way too hard (come on… all I did for 20 days was doing my make up at 7 am, going to the 3rd floor, saying “good morning, handsome/beautiful” to Mr. Zimmerman, havin some quality times with my new friends -nurses and doctors- while getting the hot blue ray on my back. How could those be hard? Clean up my bed room is hard, darling!!)

- I didn’t eat enough while I was in Switzerland (wrong again!!!!! I ate tons of chocos, raclette, and fondue!!! You must be crazy telling me that’s not enough!)

Now here I am… in a tropical country called Indonesia. A lil depressed, heavy physiotherapy (read: Fighting with my lil brothers), eating only healthy food (salad, fish, no chocolates or cheese, nuttela is still allowed though). And I gained 3 kilos already!!!!!!!!!!! That’s crazy!!! Do you think I should be coming back to Switzerland soon? :-D

A real cool concert! I’ve been watchin it for about 5 years now. It’s become a routine to me, watchin Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra New Year Concert. Never watched it live either on TV or in Austria. I always watch the relay on the 2nd or 3rd of Jan every year.

It’s been one of my major wishes… go to see this concert live with my husband someday. It’s gonna be one of the greatest experience ever!!

This is my fav piece by the way. Symphony Nr. 45… a very beautiful one :-)
